Kevin Skelly Kevin Skelly - Tampa, FL 33607

Name Kevin Skelly I currently am co-owner & head instructor at The Next Level Instruction Facility in Tampa. I played at the division II collegiate level. I also currently coach at the high school level. My philosophy on teaching baseball combines the principles of both mechanical & mental preparation. In order to have a chance to truly compete at the highest levels, these 2 key parts must be done together seamlessly. A gifted athletes natural talent will take them up to a certain point, but a smart player can dominate a great athlete in this sport the majority of the time. Elite players have both superior baseball skills & usually are the most baseball smart. I believe my greatest attributes as a teacher of the game combine both of the qualities necessary to compete at the highest levels; mechanical & mental. I am very passionate about baseball & love to teach it to those whose sole goal should be to be the best player they can be. In order to truly be the best, players must respect the game for what it represents & remember that every time they step on the field. Have fun but be focused. Mistakes will happen, be prepared to correct them quickly. Never underestimate your opponent. And always be committed to the team first before themselves. My sessions for throwing & pitching vary based on that players throwing schedule. I start every session by asking: 1) when was the last time you threw? 2) when is the next time your are practicing/playing/pitching? 3) how many throws/pitches in their last game/practice. The answers to these questions will let me determine what we will focus on in that session. My hitting sessions will start with tee work, then begin specific drills & finish with live hitting. My goal each of these sessions is to have the player feel like they got better in some way each time they leave. Often times they will feel improvements immediately from the first session
